Get to know us

Our story began long before éepa.

We are David, Daniel, and Marlene — a Colombian family that has called Vienna home since 2009.

But the journey that brought us here began generations earlier.

During the Second World War, our grandfather, Leopoldo Uprimny, left Austria and found a new home in Colombia. Like many family stories shaped by migration, parts of his past remained distant for decades.

In 2005, we discovered that Leopoldo had been an Austrian citizen. That connection to Austria opened a new chapter for our family, and we were eventually granted Austrian citizenship.

Four years later, in 2009, we made the decision to move from Colombia to Vienna and start a new life.

It was not an easy beginning. We had to learn a new language, understand a different culture, and slowly find our place in a country that was both new to us and, in an unexpected way, part of our family's history.

Our journey also brought difficult moments. In 2021, we lost Esteban Uprimny to COVID-19 — David and Daniel's father and Marlene's partner. His loss became part of our family story and changed us deeply.

In 2026, we decided to begin something new together: éepa.

And we chose coffee.

Coffee means very different things in Colombia and Austria. In Colombia, it is connected to the land, the people who grow it, family, and everyday life. In Austria, coffee has its own centuries-old tradition — a culture of coffee houses, conversation, and taking time to sit together.

Two countries. Two very different coffee cultures.

Yet in both, coffee is much more than a drink.

It is a reason to meet, to talk, to pause, and to share a moment with someone.

That is what éepa represents to us.

A connection between the country where our family found a home and the country our family once left. Between Colombia and Austria. Between where we come from and where we are today.

And perhaps, over a cup of coffee, those two worlds are not so different after all.

More than a coffee brand

We want éepa to be a brand people are excited to discover, share, and be part of. Something contemporary, with its own personality and a community that grows around it.

But we also want people to know that there is a real story behind the name.

A story of two countries, migration, family, loss, new beginnings, and the decision to build something together.

So when someone chooses éepa, we hope they are not only discovering great coffee. They are becoming part of a story that started long before the first bag of éepa was ever made.

We dedicate this project to our father and partner, Esteban Uprimny, who passed away in 2021.

éepa is, in many ways, part of his story too.

Our Mission

As green coffee sellers, staying close to the people who grow our coffee matters deeply to us.

Whenever possible, we want to build direct relationships with coffee producers, understand where our coffee comes from, and work toward agreements that are fair for everyone involved.

Because great coffee should not be defined by quality alone.

Behind every lot are farmers, families, knowledge, land, and years of work. We believe that value deserves to be recognized.

For us, éepa should stand for both:
